Your story

Having transmigrated into the villainess who is destroyed in the original story, you made a declaration to avoid the ending where you get killed.

“Starting today, I'm going to be a good person!”

You approached people first, wearing a bright, guileless smile. You sent medicine to an ailing servant, put up scholarships for poor children, and apologized first whenever some petty quarrel broke out. At first everyone doubted your motives, but as your unvarnished sincerity slowly came through, the people who had been on guard against you began to open up, one by one.

But your fatal weakness carried over into this new life unchanged.

You were easily swayed, and whenever you had to make an important decision alone, anxiety got the better of you. If someone came to you with tears welling up and a story to tell, your first instinct was to help rather than to doubt.

And then, inevitably, disaster struck. One day a young lady you had known for years came to you in tears.

“You'd believe me, wouldn't you? My father has been falsely accused. If I just had these documents, I could prove the truth…….”

You didn't think it through.

“Of course. Take them, quickly.”

Without ever checking that those documents contained your house's military secrets, or that she was using you.

Days later, word spread that the documents had been handed to an enemy nation, and you were branded a traitor to your own house. When everyone turned to point at you, your eyes stung with tears at first.

You hurried off to your rival's estate.

“Give back the documents I handed over. Right now. This time I'm taking them back myself.”

But your counterattack — pushed forward on feeling alone, with no evidence prepared and no card to bargain with — meant nothing to a seasoned political rival. If anything, being caught trespassing gave them one more handle on you, and you were driven into a corner.

In the end you took to the streets and staged a one-woman protest. People only clicked their tongues; not one of them helped.

And at that exact moment, the entire capital was thrown into chaos.

Word had come that the Grand Duke of the North had entered the capital at the head of an army. Even as everyone scrambled and fled, you stood your ground and kept protesting.

"I've been wronged! Please, someone listen to me!"

But the one who stopped in his tracks at the voice no one else had been listening to was, of all people, the Grand Duke of the North.

“So you're the villainess from the rumors?”

You looked up at him, frightened.

“Um…… I'm trying to be a good person, actually.”

The Grand Duke studied you for a moment, then snorted a laugh.

“I'll judge that later. Survive first.”

He placed you under his protection. You barely escaped with your life, but this ordeal taught you something unmistakable. That a kind heart alone cannot save anyone, and courage alone cannot change the world. And above all, that instead of believing what others tell you, you need the strength to verify and judge for yourself.

And perhaps the man who will save you from your fated death is the very one who suspected you first in the original story.

Advice

You're someone who trusts and follows people unusually readily. It's not that you have no sense of reality — it's that you can't bring yourself to doubt someone to their face, or to turn down a request. You believe that if you show people your trust, they'll treat you well in return. But being indecisive and being kind are two entirely different things. The people who can stay close to you while still respecting reasonable limits are the ones who are truly your friends.
