Your story

When you opened your eyes, the first thing that came to you was not your own name but the scene in which your character dies.

Your rivals had framed you: they claimed you had built up your power through forbidden magical research and seduced the Tower Master into attacking the imperial palace. In canon, you held out to the very end against a Mage Tower gone berserk, insisting on your innocence โ€” and then vanished as dew upon the execution block. A sad ending.

"Then I'll just get rid of the Mage Tower."

You did not agonize over it for long.

There were, of course, safer plans with far better odds. Reinforce the Tower's seals. Win over the key mage houses in advance. Leave the territory before your enemies could move.

But the very act of scrambling and clawing to dodge a predetermined doom flag was not to your taste โ€” so you simply decided to eliminate the cause.

With your meticulous planning and your gift for seeing several moves ahead, you charmed the ministers and elders into line, and in the end the Mage Tower fell and the framed mages were exiled beyond the empire's borders.

Only one problem remained. The Tower Master. Even after watching the Tower dismantled and his colleagues driven out, he never once resented you.

If anything, he stayed at your side afterward โ€” even though the Tower's destruction cost him the magic and the honor of a lifetime and left him an ordinary man. You asked him:

"Why don't you resent me?"

The Tower Master answered only by taking your hand firmly in his and smiling a long, quiet smile.

A good deal of time passed after you dismantled the Mage Tower. Certain that canon's doom flag was behind you, you let yourself relax. You fell in love with your handsome Tower Master, bore three children, and lived a warm, happy life.

But the fate written in the original story had not vanished entirely. Beneath the ruins where the Tower once stood, a sealed ancient magic circle had awakened.

The sky split open. Time and space twisted, and time itself began to run at a different rate for every person. Magma rose out of the earth, the ozone tore, and cosmic dust blotted out the heavens until the world was pandemonium.

Alarmed, you rushed to the place where the Tower had stood. And there you understood: the Mage Tower had not merely been the site of the rampage โ€” something far greater had been the cause all along.

โ€œI'll go in.โ€

The Tower Master's voice came from behind you as you clutched your head, searching for any way out.

"Don't worry. Thank you for everything. I think it's my turn to save you this time."

Before you could stop him, he kissed you deeply and threw himself into the magic circle without hesitation. You screamed and sobbed, but he only looked back at you with the happiest expression in the world and disappeared beyond the barrier.

Advice

You are an innovator with no interest in climbing the stairs someone else laid out for you. You also have the born entrepreneur's instinct for tilting the whole board in your favor. You look at the future optimistically as a rule โ€” and yet at the single most important moment of decision, you hesitate. Waver too long and you can lose a precious opportunity, or a precious person. Instead of hunting for the perfect answer, practice taking one step toward whatever your heart is already leaning toward.
